Gymnastics
02 Mar 2009

Friday 27th February was the date for the Redditch Gymnastics festivals. Over 120 children attended the two events.

The morning saw pupils from Year 2 attend a Keysteps 1 festival. Pupils were split up into groups of 10 and rotated around Body Management, Floor and Vault. Stations were led by the Competition Manager, Gymnastics Development Officer, Sports Development and the Assistant PDM, and supported by the SSCOs. Pupils were on each activity for 20 minutes, learning and developing new skills. They were then given the opportunity to perform in front of their peers- allowing for the element of performance.

In the afternoon, Year 3 pupils arrived for the first Keysteps competition. Pupils arrived with a routine and had to perform amongst the floor, body management and vault stations.

Judges were 9 high school students, who in their half term attended a nationally recognised qualification in Introduction to Keysteps Judging.
