About Us
It is an exciting time for the development of PE and School Sport through the Governments funding for PE & Sport Strategy (PESSYP). The Redditch School Sport Partnership has developed and grown along with seven other School Sport Partnerships across Herefordshire and Worcestershire. This partnership is working with all schools, sports clubs and communities in Redditch to increase and enhance their PE & School Sport opportunities for all young people.
The partnership expanded to 36 schools early, in September 2005. This high performing, active and innovative partnership currently has fourteen SSCO’s and twenty three PLT’s. The partnership has now appointed a Further Education Sport Co-ordinator (FESCO) who is based at New College and focuses on provision for the 16-19 age group.
All schools in the partnership are now involved in accessing Big Lottery Activities for disaffected pupils. The Big Lottery activities are led mainly by the local Sports Development Unit, ‘Redditch Action Sport’, who the partnership has an excellent working relationship with.
The partnership is changing and growing, with both the addition of new schools and personnel. A Partnership Development Manager is in place and working alongside the Assisitant Partnership Development Manager.
The Redditch School Sport Partnership is made up of a Partnership Development Manager (PDM), an Assistant Partnership Development Manager, and a number of School Sport Co-ordinators (SSCO) and Primary Link Teachers (PLT).
PDM
The Partnership Development Manager, along with the Assistant Partnership Development Manager work to develop the partnership by linking in with PE and Sport Organisations in order to improve the SSP.
SSCO
Each family of schools in Redditch have a number of SSCO’s. They work to develop sport in their own school but they also spend time working to improve and increase the amount of opportunities available for Sport in the whole family of schools. They particularly focus on Out of School Hours Learning, Festivals and Competitions.
PLT
Each school has a PLT. Their role is to improve PE and School Sport in their own school.
